Vietnamese Nguyen Thi Lua fails to advance at the Rio Olympic Games yesterday in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. 



Nguyen Thi Lua was eliminated from the Rio Olympic Games yesterday in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.

Lua was defeated 0-5 by Senegalese Isabelle Sambou in the women’s 53kg wrestling category at the Carioca Arena 2.

The 25-year-old was the last Vietnamese athlete left at the Olympics.

Lua received a wild card to enter the main round in the event which saw 19 competitors.

She was a unique wrestler from Vietnam who competed in two Olympics in a row in two different weight classes.

At the London Games four years ago, Lua took part in the 48kg pool and was disqualified in the first round.

Vietnam had their most successful Games with one gold and one silver by marksman Hoàng Xuân Vinh.

After 13 days of competitions, Vietnam rank 45.

The US topped the medal tally with 30 gold, 32 silver and 31 bronze medals. Great Britain came second and China was ere third.

The Rio Games will close on August 21.
