First Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU) Central Committee Le Quoc Phong met with Chairman of the Young Guard of United Russia Denis Davidov in Sochi, Russia on October 18.

The meeting was part of the HCYU delegation’s activities during their stay in Sochi, Russia to participate in the ongoing 19th World Festival of Youth and Students.
During the meeting, Phong detailed Vietnam’s achievements after 30 years of Doi Moi (Reform), saying that the HCYU has contributed to the nation’s development.
The Vietnamese union recognises the importance of links with other youth organisations, including the Young Guard of United Russia, to promote the role of youths, Phong said.
He expressed his hope that his union and the Russian organisation will boost delegation and cultural exchanges.
For his part, Davidov said the Young Guard of United Russia, established in 2005, has more than 170,000 members.
He expressed interest in the charity and voluntary activities of HCYU and suggested the two sides stay in touch.
The two sides agreed on further contact soon to deepen their cooperation.
The same day, the leader of the Vietnamese delegation met with the delegations from Cambodia and Belarus.
The Vietnamese delegation also took part in cultural exchanges, sports games, workshops and discussions on economics, politics, science-technology, health, and education during the festival.
