In a press release issued on December 25, 2025, Vingroup confirmed its intention to withdraw from the high-speed railway project so the corporation can focus on key national infrastructure initiatives such as the Olympic Sports City and the Trong Dong National Stadium, along with high-speed rail lines connecting Ben Thanh–Can Gio and Hanoi–Quang Ninh.

According to Official Letter No. 764/2025, dated December 25, 2025, sent to the Government, Vingroup proposed to cancel its investment registration for the North–South high-speed railway project, which had been submitted in May 2025. The decision, the corporation noted, was made after careful consideration to ensure the full concentration of financial and human resources on strategic infrastructure projects recently assigned by the Government.

One of the most prominent among these is the Olympic Sports City project in Hanoi, covering more than 9,000 hectares. At its center stands the Trong Dong Stadium complex  -  expected to become the largest stadium in the world. This is a landmark national project entrusted to Vingroup by the Government to showcase Vietnam’s cultural identity on the global stage. Therefore, Vingroup is committed to mobilizing maximum resources to ensure the project’s timely and high-quality completion.

Together with the Olympic Sports City, Vingroup has also been appointed as the investor for several critical transportation infrastructure projects, including the Ben Thanh–Can Gio high-speed rail line and the Hanoi–Quang Ninh high-speed rail line.

Additionally, Vingroup is devoting substantial effort to industrial, energy, and infrastructure projects such as the VinMetal steel plant, two wind power plants in Ky Anh (Ha Tinh), the Hai Phong LNG thermal power plant, and the Can Gio coastal megacity. Each of these projects represents significant investments of capital, time, and technical capacity, aimed at strengthening Vietnam’s production base and infrastructure resilience.

Meanwhile, the North–South high-speed railway project has drawn interest and investment proposals from several capable enterprises, including THACO Truong Hai, Vietnam Railways Joint Stock Company, and Vietnam Investment and Development Group (Vietnam 3000).

According to Vingroup, its withdrawal from the North–South high-speed railway investment registration will not affect the project’s overall progress. The move reflects the corporation’s proactive and responsible approach toward the Government, ensuring optimal implementation of its assigned projects. Through this decision, Vingroup reaffirms its commitment to advancing Vietnam’s transport, renewable energy, and urban infrastructure in a sustainable and globally competitive direction  -  contributing to improved national capacity and quality of life for Vietnamese citizens.
