The reopening of Vinh Airport is expected to ease travel for passengers, particularly during the busy year-end period when demand surges.

Vinh Airport is expected to resume operations starting December 19.

A representative from the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) stated that the unit is accelerating work at the Vinh International Airport project, aiming to resume operations on December 19. This aligns with the launch and inauguration of several key infrastructure projects nationwide.

Vietnam Airlines has confirmed that it will restart scheduled routes as soon as the airport is cleared for operation. Beginning December 19, the airline plans to operate seven round-trip flights daily connecting Vinh with Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. This includes five round trips on the Vinh–Ho Chi Minh City route, and two on the Vinh–Hanoi route.

Vietjet also announced its intention to promptly resume services to Vinh once the airport reopens. From December 19, it plans to operate five round-trip flights daily on the Ho Chi Minh City–Vinh route, with six round trips every Saturday.

Vinh Airport was previously closed starting July 1 to allow for infrastructure improvement works. During the closure, all flights to and from the airport were suspended. Airlines increased flight frequencies to nearby airports such as Noi Bai (Hanoi) and Tho Xuan (Thanh Hoa) to meet continued travel demand in the North Central region.
