On the afternoon of February 5, the Quang Ninh People's Council, during its 35th session of the 14th tenure, passed a resolution amending several regulations on sightseeing fees at scenic and cultural sites.

Under the resolution, Quang Ninh will waive all entrance fees for residents and tourists visiting the Yen Tu relic complex and the Yen Tu National Forest scenic area.

The free-admission policy will be applied until the end of 2028.

The decision is intended as a gesture of deep appreciation by Quang Ninh for local residents, monks, Buddhists and visitors, while also reflecting the province’s commitment to preserving and promoting the site’s cultural and spiritual values.

A key basis for the policy is the fact that the Yen Tu relic and scenic complex was officially recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage site on July 12, 2025.

In addition, visitor numbers to Yen Tu have shown a marked decline in recent years.

From more than 1 million visitors in 2018, the figure fell to around 567,000 in 2025.

Against this backdrop, the zero-fee policy is expected to serve as a strong catalyst to attract tourists back to Yen Tu, while creating favorable conditions for master planning, investment attraction and the development of more diversified tourism products in surrounding areas.

Currently, entrance fees at Yen Tu stand at VND 40,000 per adult and VND 20,000 per child.

The fee exemption is therefore seen as a significant incentive for both domestic and international visitors, particularly during peak pilgrimage and festival seasons.
