A series of videos and photos from the wedding of a visually impaired groom and his beautiful bride have attracted considerable attention online in recent days.

The beautiful bride stood beside her groom, smiling happily through tears of emotion. After a sweet and challenging journey of love, they held hands and began their life together as a married couple.

The groom and bride, who have become known to many people, are Nguyen Cong Cuong, born in 1998 and from Hoa Cuong Ward, Da Nang, and Nguyen Thi Trinh, born in 2005 and from Dong Thap.

Cuong lost his sight at the age of two after undergoing surgery to remove a tumor from his eye. Growing up without sight was far from easy. He had to learn how to live and study independently while also facing the curious and scrutinizing looks of others.

With encouragement from his family, however, Cuong rose above adversity. He won several academic awards during high school, was admitted to the Hue Academy of Music and graduated as valedictorian in 2020.

"During those years of giving it my all, I also loved and was loved. But I had not yet met someone who made me feel that I had found a true family until I met Trinh, a girl seven years younger than me," Cuong said.

After struggling unsuccessfully to find a job, Cuong decided to move south. He went to HCMC, where he formed a band with several friends who were in similar circumstances and performed at various venues.

When he felt lonely, he often went online to make friends and chat with people. The girl he happened to meet was Trinh, who was working at a restaurant at the time.

"She was the most innocent and carefree girl I had ever known. She lived true to her age and her feelings," Cuong recalled.

After their first greeting by text, they began talking every day. At their first date at a coffee shop, On the first date at a coffee shop, Trinh was a bit confused when she saw Cuong sitting silently behind black glasses. But she was soon won over by his resilience and optimism.

Cuong, meanwhile, was touched by the girl's simple acts of care. She would pull out a chair for him, hand him tissues to wipe his hands and quietly look after him. Although he could not see her, he could still feel Trinh's beauty.

After three months of getting to know each other, they officially began dating. From then on, they built a special love story in which Trinh became Cuong's "eyes" throughout their journey together.

Whenever they went out, Trinh would drive Cuong. When they ate together, she would wipe his chopsticks, pour his water and pick up food for him. She never cared about curious looks from strangers and always held Cuong's hand tightly whenever they went out together. Cuong said he was deeply moved by this.

"I love Trinh because she has had to make many sacrifices by loving someone who is visually impaired. Yet she has never been bothered by it. On the contrary, she is touched that I always try to go everywhere with her, even though I cannot see," Cuong said.

The emotional wedding

After two years of dating, the couple told their families about their relationship. Cuong's parents were delighted that their son had found a kind-hearted woman who was willing to look beyond his disability and love and marry him.

Trinh's parents, meanwhile, were initially hesitant because their prospective son-in-law was visually impaired.

"My family advised me to think carefully about whether we could live together and be understanding of each other for the rest of our lives. Eventually, seeing how determined I was and how sincere he was, my parents gradually accepted him," Trinh said.

The couple's wedding was held in the bride's hometown on June 15. Cuong and the groom's family traveled more than 1,000km from Da Nang to Dong Thap to bring the bride home.

The couple had an emotional wedding surrounded by the blessings of nearly 300 guests. When the bride's father walked her down the aisle, the visually impaired groom, unable to see the light around him, reached out to take his bride's hand and gently led her onto the stage, moving many guests to tears.
