The Vietnam Border Guard High Command and Cambodia’s General Department of Immigration held talks in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau on July 11 to review their coordination in ensuring border security and set tasks for the coming time.
The Vietnamese side was led by Lieut. Gen. Hoang Xuan Chien, member of the Party Central Committee and Commander of the Border Guard, while the Cambodian side was headed by General Sok Phal, Director-General of the General Department of Immigration.
The two sides agreed to continue coordination under their reached agreement and increase exchange of information related to national security, social order and safety, immigration and border crimes.
They will join hands to manage border gates and simplify administrative procedures to facilitate border trade and people’s travelling.
They will also focus on preventing specially dangerous crimes such as terrorism and weapon and explosive trafficking.
Since their talks in June last year, the two sides have coordinated in dealing with incidents occurring in border areas, contributing to maintaining stability, security and order along the shared border line.
