The Viet Nam Football Federation (VFF) yesterday announced the list of 30 U23 footballers to prepare for the Asian Games (ASIAD) to be held in Indonesia next month.
Among them, eight players each play for Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) and Hanoi.

The VFF also named other platters who shone at the AFC U23 Championship held in China in January in which Việt Nam won a silver medal for the first time, including Phan Văn Đức and Phạm Xuân Mạnh of Sông Lam Nghệ An, Hà Đức Chinh of Đà Nẵng and Bùi Tiến Dũng of Thanh Hóa.
Due to his impressive performances for V.League 1 side Hải Phòng, goalkeeper Đặng Văn Lâm has been selected as an overage player at 26 years old.
The team will convene on July 25 at the PVF Centre in Hà Nội and will play friendly matches against the U23 sides of Australia, Oman and Uzbekistan to prepare in early August at Mỹ Đình National Stadium.
Thirty-two men’s football teams have registered to compete in the upcoming Asian event. Việt Nam will face Japan alongside Pakistan and Nepal in Group D.
The men’s football is to set kick off on August 14 and finish on September 1 in Indonesia.
At the ASIAD 2014 held in Incheon, Việt Nam under the guidance of Japanese coach Toshiya Miura, progressed from the qualifying round before losing to the United Arab Emirates in the quarter-finals.
