Vietnam lost to Japan 22-25, 21-25, 16-25 in the quarter-final round of the SMM 19th Asian Women’s Senior Volleyball Championship held in the Philippines yesterday.

With this loss, Vietnam will face Kazakhstan for the fifth-eighth place match today.

Earlier, in the qualifying round, Vietnam lost to Kazakhstan 1-3.

In other matches yesterday, China, defending and 13-time Asian champions, beat Kazakhstan 25-16, 34-32, 25-23. 

Iran bucked a slow start to wallop Hong Kong, 21-25, 25-19, 25-18, 25-15, and South Korea beat Chinese Taipei 25-20, 25-11, 28-26 to remain undefeated and head for the tournament’s semi-finals.
