President Tran Dai Quang hosted visiting Chairman of the Mongolian Parliament Miyegombo Enkhbold in Hanoi on January 22.

The State leader lauded the Mongolian top legislator’s visit to Vietnam and attendance at the 26th Asia-Pacific Parliament Forum (APPF-26) which took place in Hanoi from January 18-21, expressing his belief that the visit will contribute to strengthening and fostering friendship and traditional cooperation between the two countries.

He also expressed his pleasure at the growing Vietnam-Mongolia ties over the past years, including cooperation between the two parliaments.

The State leader underscored that Vietnamese people always keep in their mind the support that Mongolian people gave to the country during the past struggle for national independence.

Vietnam is delighted at the socio-economic and diplomatic achievements that Mongolia has made over the past years. Mongolia has been active in promoting multilateral cooperation mechanisms by successfully organising the 11th ASEM Summit in Ulaanbaatar in July 2016, he noted.

He took the occasion to convey his invitation to visit Vietnam to Mongolian President Khaltmaagiin Battulga.

For his part, Chairman of the Mongolian Parliament Miyegombo Enkhbold congratulated Vietnam on its successful organisation of the APPF-26

He affirmed that Vietnam is an important partner of Mongolia in the Southeast Asian region, adding that his country hopes to expand affiliation with Vietnam in all fields.

Briefing his host on his talks with his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Enkhbold said that the two sides agreed to bolster political, economic, trade cooperation as well as people-to-people contact by organising Vietnamese Culture Days in Mongolia and Mongolian Days in Vietnam to celebrate the 65th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties in 2019.

President Quang spoke of the orientations for the growth of the Vietnam-Mongolia relations sketched out by the two parliament leaders, stressing the need to increase delegation exchanges and cooperation among localities.

He asked the two sides to coordinate closely to hold the Vietnamese Culture Days in Mongolia and Mongolian Culture Days in Vietnam, while seeking measures to facilitate trade, tourism and business collaboration.

He thanked Mongolia for supporting Vietnam at regional and international forums, while asking Mongolia to support Vietnam’s candidacy for non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council.

He pledged that Vietnam is willing to share its experience in integration, and to help connect Mongolia and ASEAN countries.

Enkhbold affirmed Mongolia’s back for Vietnam’s candidacy for a non-permanent seat in the UN Security Council. He also asked for Vietnam’s help in expanding relations with ASEAN.

He met on January 22 with Chairman of the Parliament of Mongolia Miyegombo Enkhbold, who is on official visit to Vietnam. The guest earlier attended the 26th Asia-Pacific Parliament Forum (APPF-26).

“Vietnam always pays due attention to bolstering cooperative ties with traditional friends, including Mongolia,” said PM Phuc.

He stressed that both sides need to consolidate and develop cooperation in various fields based on their long-standing traditional friendship.

He noticed that Miyegombo Enkhbold’s visit is a vivid illustration of the developing cooperative relations and traditional friendship between Vietnam and Mongolia.

He spoke highly of the central Asian country for creating favourable conditions for Vietnamese firms to do business there in the past years and said that Vietnam can provide its staples like coffee and seafood for Mongolia.

“Vietnam is ready to share experience and cooperate with Mongolia in the fields of customs, education and networking activities among localities of both sides,” he said, adding that the country is willing to send high-profile experts and engineers in civil, bridge and road construction and other fields to support Mongolia.

The Government leader said that the two countries should channel more efforts to increase bilateral trade to 70 million USD by 2020.

Meanwhile, Miyegombo Enkhbold took the occasion to congratulate the Vietnamese National Assembly for successfully organising the APPF-26 while expressed his impression on the meeting with PM Phuc in Ulan Bator in 2016.

He stated that Vietnam is an important partner of Mongolia in the Southeast Asian region and his country always wants to boost cooperation with Vietnam.

Mongolia supports Vietnam to run for the position as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the 2020-2021 tenure and hopes that Vietnam continues to back it to join activities of the ASEAN Community, he said.

Due attention has been paid to the exchange of high-ranking delegations in these years, contributing to developing the win-win cooperation, he stressed, adding that the Vietnam-Mongolia Intergovernmental Committee has a crucial role in elevating the bilateral ties.

The two countries are pushing for the signing of agreements on justice and ratcheting up defence partnership, he noted.

In terms of trade and economy, he suggested that the two countries should enhance collaboration in the processing of frozen meat. Mongolia boasts huge potential to export mutton and goat meat to Vietnam while Vietnam holds strengths in chicken and meat.

Cooperative mechanisms in customs, tax, banking and finance should be set up to promote two-way trade cooperation, he recommended.

He wished that Vietnam would receive more Mongolian students and the two countries’ localities would launch cooperative activities to make it easier for the partnerships between their businesses and people.
