International Master Tran Tuan Minh defeated Pirverdiyev Agil of Azerbaijan in the 10th round of the World Junior (U-20) Chess Championships in India.

Minh now has six points to rank 20th out of 80 players. In the final round, he will meet Srijit Paul of India who ranks 19th with the same point total as Minh.

Vietnam’s other representative, Tran Minh Thang, rose one spot to 63rd place with four points after drawing with Tahay Alexis of France.

Thang will face Nyamdorj Davaaochir of Canada in the next round.

Xiong Jeffery of the US still leads the event with 8.5 points. Artemiev Vladislav of Russia and Maghsoodloo Parham of Iran are second and third, respectively.
