The 25m flagpole is built at an altitude of 3,141m using monolithic stone with its four sides decorated with high reliefs depicting the country’s famous scenic spots such as Ha Long, northwestern mountainous and Central Highland regions.
It is part of the Fansipan Legend tourism area invested by Sun Group in Sa Pa district of Lao Cai.
The same day, President Tran Dai Quang also visited border guards at the Lao Cai international border gate.
The President lauded achievements that the armed forces of Lao Cai have made in 2016 and asked the officers and soldiers at the border post to focus on building a strong and pure unit to fulfil all the assigned tasks, thus joining the local Party Organisation, government and people to successful implementing all targets.
The post should also strengthen coordination with other forces based in the locality and local authorities to ensure stability, security and order in the border province, he requested.
The President also urged the border guards to strengthen the collaboration with border guard force of China in the prevention and combat of crimes and protecting security and order, contributing to building a shared border of peace, friendship, stability and development.
Also on January 13, President Tran Dai Quang also visited officials and staff in the Lao Cai Border Gate Economic Zone.
