Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son will serve as head of the task force, while Le Manh Hung, acting minister of industry and trade, has been appointed standing deputy head.
Members of the task force include Dang Xuan Phong, permanent deputy minister and chairman of the Government Office; Phan Thi Thang, deputy minister of industry and trade; Do Thanh Trung, deputy minister of finance; Nguyen Xuan Sang, deputy minister of construction; Hoang Trung, deputy minister of agriculture and environment; Nguyen Minh Hang, deputy minister of foreign affairs.
The group also includes leaders of major state-owned energy enterprises: Le Ngoc Son, chairman of the Vietnam National Industry - Energy Group; Dang Hoang An, chairman of Vietnam Electricity; Ngo Hoang Ngan, chairman of the Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group; and Pham Van Thanh, chairman of Vietnam National Petroleum Group.
The task force is responsible for assisting the prime minister in directing, supervising and coordinating ministries and agencies to address issues related to ensuring energy security amid the Middle East crisis.
It will regularly monitor, assess and forecast developments while overseeing the implementation of measures aimed at maintaining stable fuel supply for production, business activities and daily consumption.
The task force will also review difficulties and obstacles arising in the process and take prompt action to resolve them, ensuring that gasoline and oil supplies remain sufficient for the country’s needs.
In addition, the group will study and propose policy directions, mechanisms and solutions to the prime minister in order to address emerging challenges and maintain flexibility in policy responses.
The objective is to ensure that Vietnam remains proactive and prepared, avoiding unexpected disruptions to national energy security.
The task force will also carry out other duties related to energy security as assigned by the prime minister.
Under the decision, the task force has the authority to request ministries and agencies to provide reports, information, documents and relevant materials. It may also invite leaders of ministries and agencies to attend its meetings when necessary.
The group will bear responsibility before the prime minister for the implementation of its assigned tasks.
The task force will operate collectively while emphasizing the responsibility of its head. Members will perform their duties on a concurrent basis and remain accountable for their assigned responsibilities.
It must regularly report to the prime minister on its activities and submit additional reports when required.
When signing directives, the deputy prime minister, as head of the task force, will use the prime minister’s official seal. The standing deputy head and other members will use the seals of their respective ministries or agencies when signing documents related to their assigned tasks.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade will serve as the standing body of the task force, using its existing apparatus to support the group’s work. The ministry will also develop the task force’s operating regulations, prepare work plans and programs, and compile documents, reports and draft conclusions following meetings.
The task force will automatically dissolve once it has completed its assigned mission.
