Vietnam dominated the Southeast Asian Fencing Federation Championships’ men’s individual sabre event in Singapore on September 4.





The Vietnamese athletes grabbed all the medals of this category with Olympian Nguyen Thanh An bagging the top position. His teammate Nguyen Xuan Loi came second, while Nguyen Van Quyet and Vu Van Hung shared third place.

On the second day of the competition, Nguyen Thi Luyen of Vietnam won a silver medal in the women’s epee individual class.

Melbye Ann Karin of Singapore was first, while Lee Bernardette of the host nation and Raguin Harlene from the Philippines came third.

On Saturday, which was the first day of the event, Vietnamese fencers also overshadowed the competition in the women’s foil individual pool.

Rio Olympic participant Do Thi Anh triumphed at the event, followed by Nguyen Thi Hoai Thu and Pham Thi Ngoc Luyen, respectively.

Earlier, Nguyen Thi Le Dung finished second in the women’s individual sabre discipline, while her teammate Nguyen Thi Loan bagged a bronze medal.

Nguyen Phuoc Den and Nguyen Tien Nhat were in third place in the men’s epee.

The athletes will participate in the team events at the OCBC Arena Hall 6 until September 6.
