Vietnam's Thong Tin Lien Viet Post Bank topped the Pool A of the Asian Volleyball Confederation Women’s Club Championships after their second win yesterday in Binan City, the Philippines.






The Vietnamese club won 25-14, 23-25, 25-17, 25-18 over Kwai Tsing of Hong Kong.

Earlier, they came from behind to defeat Foton Pilipinas of the hosts on Sunday.

With two wins, Lien Viet Post Bank advanced to the second qualification round as the leader of the pool. Foton Pilipinas, with one win, also went through as the second-placed club.

In other activities yesterday, Altay VC of Kazakhstan lost 16-25, 17-25, 19-25 to Japanese NEC Red Rockets in Pool C. Thai Bangkok Glass, with Vietnamese spiker Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa, pocketed their second win beating Bank Sarmayeh of Iran 17-25, 12-25, 15-25 in Pool B.

Twelve clubs participated in the tournament’s four pools with two top teams of each pool advancing into the second qualification.

The final is scheduled for September 11.
