Coach Nguyen Huu Thang used some of his best players in the match. Viet Nam dominated from the first minutes of the match. In the eighth minute, striker Nguyễe Cong Phuong had a chance to open the score for Viet Nam after receiving a pass from midfielder Luong Xuan Truong but he couldn’t convert it into a goal.
Before the first half ended, Viet Nam created numerous dangerous situations for Avispa Fukuoka’s goal but they were not lucky enough to find the net.
In the second half, coach Thang changed four players in his formation, however, the Japanese side chose a safe tactic so no goals were made.
It is the first time a team from J-League 1 have competed with the Vietnamese national team.
The event was a warm-up for Viet Nam to prepare for the coming AFF Suzuki Cup 2016 in Myanmar.
