The PM has recently passed the program on basic science development in the four fields in the 2017-2025 period.

The program aims to build a contingent of high-quality scientists and strive for a world-class human force. It also targets to develop potential youth research groups at universities and build research universities. Specifically, 15-20 research groups will be founded every year by 2025.

In addition, the program looks to raise Viet Nam’s scientific position at third or fourth place in ASEAN. The number of scientific projects published in famous international magazines will be increased by 20-25% yearly and 10-15% for maritime science.

The program aims to beef up four basic science fields namely chemistry (organic chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, theory chemistry, physiochemistry, Polyme, analyzing chemistry; life science (molecular, tissue, cell, organism, community, and ecology); Earth science (geology, geophysics, physics of earth, meteorological, geography, climate, hydrography, water resource; and maritime science (oceanography, atmosphere, continent, maritime chemistry, biology, maritime ecology, geography, geology, geophysics, mechanics, and maritime projects).
