The team returned from the Philippines to Noi Bai Airport in Hanoi on July 8th and was honored with a celebration event at 6:30 PM the same day to acknowledge the efforts of the coaching staff and 14 team members.
Achieving third place in the FIVB Challenger Cup, with impressive performances throughout the tournament, the team led by Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet was recognized and celebrated promptly upon their return.
Throughout the three matches, the Vietnamese team secured two victories, including a remarkable 3-1 win against Belgium, the world's 13th-ranked team. This marks the first time a Vietnamese volleyball team has defeated a top-15 world-ranked team.
Victories over the Philippines and Belgium also propelled the Vietnamese women's volleyball team to the 32nd position in the world rankings, the highest in the history of Vietnamese volleyball.
Individual players also made significant contributions. Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen scored 77 points over three matches, becoming the top scorer of the FIVB Challenger Cup 2024, while Khanh Dang, with 40 successful saves, was recognized as the best defensive player of the tournament.
In recognition of their outstanding performance, the Vietnam Volleyball Federation awarded the team 300 million VND. Additional rewards included 100 million VND from Vietcontent (the operator of the Vietnamese Volleyball Fanpage and Webthethao), 150 million VND from Dong Luc Company, and 300 million VND from Dao Huu Huyen, the owner of Duc Giang Chemicals. In total, Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team received nearly 1 billion VND (around $40,000) in rewards.
