The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee kicked off its 15th session this morning, September 12, with a focus on the implementation of the NA’s and committees’ resolutions on rearranging communal- and district-level administrative agencies from 2019-2021.
The rearrangement cut 706 civil servants of 2,411 in the district-level administrative bodies, while just over half of 20,417 communal-level civil servants remained employed.
The merger of rural and urban administrative agencies will streamline the organizational apparatus of the political system and trim off staff, said Hoang Thanh Tung, head of the NA’s Law Committee.
The reorganization has cut 450 and 3,437 district- and communal-level administrative bodies, respectively.
The payroll for district-level civil servants was also reduced by 12%, communal-level civil servants by 32.6% and 56.4% for part-time workers.
