The Viet Nam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) and Slovakia's Slavia Capital Services (SCS) signed a memorandum of understanding on co-operation in Ha Noi on July 17.

Under the agreement, SCS will co-operate with and support VNPT in its efforts to promote trade and investment in Slovakia as well as to introduce its telecommunication and information technology companies, which can supply new methods and information technology application software for VNPT, especially in the fields of e-government, natural resources and the environment, health, social insurance and the exchange of international telephone traffic between Viet Nam and European countries.
There are more than 5,000 Vietnamese people living and working in Slovakia, who are potential customers, helping VNPT access the Slovakian market as well as the Vietnamese community in European countries.
SCS is a financial investment company in Central Europe. It was established in 1995 and operates in various sectors including food, fuel, investment and machines, as well as debt management consulting, real estate, energy and information technology.
The firm has developed business in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Ukraine, as well as in Cyprus, Romania, Switzerland and Croatia, in addition to Serbia and Macedonia.
VNPT is a Vietnamese State-owned group operating in the telecommunications and information technology sector.
In the first half of this year, VNPT earned an estimated VND63.15 trillion (US$2.8 billion) in revenue and VND2.16 trillion in profit, achieving 50.6 per cent of the yearly target. The group has more than 30 million mobile subscribers and four million fixed telephone subscribers.
