Vietnamese karate martial artist Nguyen Hoang Ngan has been appointed as a member of the World Karate Federation (WKF) Athletes Commission, according to Vu Son Ha, head of the karate section of the National Sports Administration.
Ngan is considered the “Kata queen’ of Viet Nam. She is member of the Ministry of Public Security team.
32-year-old Ngan won gold medals in 2006 and 2008 at the World Karate Championships. She won gold in the World Games in 2009, a gold medal at the Kobe Osaka International World Cup in 2007, a silver medal at the Asian Games in 2014 and many golds at the Southeast Asian Games.
Last year, Ngan and her teammates Do Thi Thu Ha and Nguyen Thi Hang won the only gold medal for Viet Nam at the Asian Karate Federation Championships, held in Yokohama, Japan.
