On the night of September 21, 2024, Vo Cao Ky Duyen was crowned Miss Tourism Vietnam Global 2024 during a rain-soaked finale in Hai Phong, overcoming challenging weather to secure the prestigious title.
The grand finale, themed "Cultural Heritage Identity," began under favorable conditions, but about an hour into the event, just as rapper Double2T was performing, heavy rain began to pour. Despite the downpour, the show continued, with both contestants and judges holding umbrellas, creating an unforgettable and rare scene in Vietnamese beauty pageant history.
With umbrellas in hand, the contestants carried on with their swimwear, evening gown, and even question-and-answer rounds. The unusual weather led to an atmosphere of resilience and beauty, as the event was live-streamed for audiences nationwide. The judging panel, including People’s Artist Le Khanh, also braved the rain as they evaluated the contestants.
Vo Cao Ky Duyen, contestant number 001, stood out despite the challenges. The 19-year-old from Hai Phong, standing at 1.75m with measurements of 84-60-97cm, impressed the judges with her grace and composure.
Ky Duyen's crowning moment was equally unique, as the rain continued to fall during the announcement of the winners. Alongside her, Do Ha Trang (contestant number 099) was named 1st runner-up, and Pham Hoang Thu Uyen (contestant number 100) took 2nd runner-up.
In addition to the coveted crown, Vo Cao Ky Duyen won a luxury car valued at 3.5 billion VND and will represent Vietnam at Miss Supranational 2025. 1st runner-up Do Ha Trang received prizes worth 300 million VND and will compete in The Miss Globe 2024, while 2nd runner-up Pham Hoang Thu Uyen earned 200 million VND and will participate in Miss Tourism World 2024.
