Preschool teachers in most areas of the country receive VND7-15 million a month, while teachers in mountainous areas with 18 years of experience in difficult areas earn up to VND20 million.
The Politburo has concluded that teachers' salaries must be placed on the top of the salary scale system for the administrative and non-productive sector, with additional allowances tailored to the work's nature and regions.
The Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) will conduct a wage survey at 3,400 enterprises with 6,800 labourers to serve as a foundation for the adjustment of the regional minimum wage in 2025.
The average monthly income of workers in Vietnam has risen to 7.6 million VND in the first quarter of 2024, an increase of 301,000 VND from the fourth quarter of 2023 and 549,000 VND compared to the same period last year.
The National Wage Council has proposed to the Government a 6% increase in the regional minimum wage, equivalent to 238,000 VND per month on average, starting from July 1.
On December 20, the National Wage Council finalized a plan on 60 percent regional minimum wage increase to submit to the government.
