Magnificent purple water lilies are in bloom along the Yen stream that leads to the Huong (Perfumed) pagoda in the southwest of the capital city of Hanoi.
Water lilies often bloom at dawn and emerge from the water at a height of 10-20cm. The leaf buds of water lilies are often reddish-brown before taking on a shiny-green colour. Visitors have to get up early and row a boat to Yen stream between 6am and 9am to enjoy the water lilies in full bloom. Differing from the busy atmosphere in spring, come summer, Huong pagoda is quiet and tranquil with the stunning beauty of pink and purple water lilies. The rental price of a small boat for two persons ranges between VND100,000 and VND120,000. According to a local resident, this area has been submerged in water two times this year, so the flower season has arrived later than in previous years. A bunch of ten water lilies flower is priced at just VND50,000 and visitors often buy them for taking beautiful photos. Huong pagoda belongs to Huong Son commune, My Duc district and is about a 60km drive from Hanoi. |
