The Russian tourist fainted after being struck by strong waves.
On November 24 in the afternoon, Gurov and his friends were bathing in the sea at the beach along Tran Phu Road.
At that time there were big waves 2 to 3 meters high. A sea rescue worker named Nguyen Hoang Long warned the Russian tourists of the situation but they kept swimming.
Khanh Hoa online newspaper cited the rescue worker Long: "I heard people calling for help. Observing the beach, I discovered a tourist being flogged up and down by waves."
The Russian tourist was taken to Khanh Hoa General Hospital. His neck was broken and he could not move his limbs.
On November 25, the hospital successfully conducted surgery to join his neck vertebrae.
On October 17, 2015, a 64-year-old woman had her left arm broken by strong waves in Nha Trang.
