Will Courageux makes a short video about eating pho in Hanoi

Courageux, 32, has been living and working in Vietnam for nearly 10 years. In 2014, Will and his family came to Vietnam as tourists. As he fell in love with the country, he decided to resign from his job in Sweden and move to Vietnam to settle down.

The young man is admired by many Vietnamese for his humorous and charming introductions about Vietnamese cuisine. His YouTube channel, Will in Vietnam, has attracted over 1 million subscribers and 920 million views.

Most recently, Will made a short video about eating pho in Hanoi on a cold day when the temperature dropped to 10oC. Will said he loves this shop the most, especially for its quick service. Diners just need to wait 20 seconds for their order.

The video shows the French man using chili sauce, lemon, pickled garlic, and pepper to season his bowl of pho. Will dipped fried dough sticks into the hot bowl of pho, saying,: "It’s so crispy and delicious." He even drank all the broth.

The video just lasts 40 seconds but it attracted 600,000 viewers. Many Hanoians found the pho shop where Will visited: Ho Loi in Tay Ho district in Hanoi, which is always full of clients.

Netizens agree that the dish has delicious flavor. However, some of them said Will was lucky when he came as there were not many diners, and he was served in 20 seconds. A post on social network in late February said that diners had to wait 40 minutes to enjoy pho.

In general, most crowded pho shops in Hanoi are located in the central area, in Hoan Kiem district, or the wards between Hoan Kiem and Ba Dinh districts. However, Ho Loi Pho Shop is located 10 kilometers from the Old Quarter of Hanoi.

Though the shop is not in the central area, it has been well known for a few years. The shop is large with 10 dining tables, enough for 40 diners.

However, in rush hour, especially weekends, clients have to queue and wait for their turn.

The shop serves various pho dishes, priced between VND40,000 and VND70,000.
