Two richest of them, Trinh Van Quyet, president of FLC Group, and Pham Nhat Vuong, president of Vingroup, alone have the stock assets worth VND64 trillion, accounting for 38 percent of total assets.

The third position in the list of the richest stock billionaires belongs to Tran Dinh Long, president of Hoa Phat Group with VND7.953 trillion worth of stock assets.

This year’s list of 500 richest stock billionaires witnesses the overwhelming majority of men over women. There are 343 men (68 percent) and 157 women (32 percent).

The 50-50 ratio is seen in the top 10. The five richest women in 2016 list are Pham Thu Huong, Pham thuy Hang, Truong Thi Le Khanh, Le Thi Ngoc Diep and Vu Thi Hien. They are holding stock assets worth VND15 trillion.

Only eight in the top 30 are women. However, five out of the eight are listed in top 10. The total assets of five women are just equal to 1/7 of five men in the top 10.

Bizlive tried to learn if there is any relation between native villages and billionaires and found that 45 out of 256 people, who have clear information about places of birth, are from Hanoi. The total stock assets being held by 45 billionaires are VND45.8 trillion, or 27.3 percent.

Three out of  the 10 richest people are from Hanoi and are family members. They are Pham Nhat Vuong, president of VIngroup, his wife Pham Thu Huong and sister Pham Thuy Hang.

Nguyen Hoang Yen, the wife of Nguyen Dang Quang, president of Masan, Nguyen Manh Tuan, deputy chair of Hoa Phat and CEO of FPT Bui Quang Ngoc are also from Hanoi.

Forty two billionaires are from HCM City  and they have VND7 trillion in stock assets, accounting for 4 percent. 

The other billionaires were born in Nam Dinh (13), Binh Dinh (11), TIen Giang (9), Hai Phong (9), Bac Ninh (5), An Giang (4), Vinh Phuc (4), Da Nang (3), Thanh Hoa (4), Nghe An (2) and Ha Tinh (2).

This year’s richest billionaire Trinh Van Quyet was born in 1975 in Vinh Phuc province. Quyet jumped from 28th last year to the first position this year.

According to Kien Thuc, the 10 richest stock billionaires have $4.4 billion, enough to buy 93 percent of total shares of VietinBank and BIDV, two of the largest Vietnamese banks.

VietinBank had capitalization value reaching VND56.037 trillion and BIDV VND48.545 trillion by the end of 2016.
