Ca Mau marked a new step in the development of clean energy by kicking off three wind power projects on August 28 with a combined capacity of 170 MW and a total investment of more than 6.3 trillion VND (about 239 million USD).
Work on construction of a wind power plant began in Khanh Hung commune, the southernmost province of Ca Mau, on August 11.
The commercial operation date (COD) of Savan 1 Wind Power Plant, a project developed by T&T Group in Laos, on December 26, 2025, is regarded as a notable milestone in the cross-border renewable energy landscape.
Malaysian Deputy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir highlighted Vietnam’s strong wind power potential, stressing that if connected through the regional grid, this energy source could bring significant benefits to Malaysia.
The arrival of this first wind power equipment shipment signalled the Trung Nam Ca Na seaport’s infrastructure readiness and its entry into a new phase of development, aligned with Vietnam’s adjusted National Power Development Plan VIII.
