The information was announced by Tran Ba Luan, director of Binh Duong Province’s Department of Transport at the recent Vietnam Traffic Safety Conference 2017.

According to Luan, the BRT line will run around 30 kilometres between Binh Duong New City and Suoi Tien Amusement Park in District 9, HCM City.

The project is estimated to cost around VND1.8 trillion (USD81.5 million) which is from Japan’s ODA, including the expenses for equipment and the construction of overpasses along the route.

The BRT line is hoped to make it easier to travel on the arterial route connecting the economic hubs in the face of growing traffic congestion.

The route will also be connected to the first metro line in Ho Chi Minh City, which will run between Ben Thanh Market and Suoi Tien, upon the metro line’s completion.

The route construction is expected to be put into operation in 2019.

The administration of Binh Duong has promised to pay back the loan on time from its own budget.
