The exhibition “Painting Ambassadors” displays 24 artworks by Nguyen Tri Minh in Ho Chi Minh City. Most are acrylic paintings, which belong to the collection of Mrs. Pauline Nhung Nguyen - the late artist's spouse.
This is Minh’s solo exhibition in Ho Chi Minh City after nearly 50 years, since 1975. Most of the works were composed in the last decade of the artist's life, mainly in the US.
Giverny is considered the most outstanding work for its large size (1.22m x 3.44m), placed in the center. The painting is valued at 100 thousand USD, and is one of the author's lifelong works.
Artist Nguyen Tri Minh painted Giverny to recreate the land of the same name, with the lake of water lilies and willow trees. This is also the hometown of painter Claude Monet in France.
Mrs. Pauline Nhung Nguyen said that this exhibition has a special meaning. She and her family wished that the works of Minh’s later years to be more accessible to the public.
The paintings were shipped from the US to Vietnam for display.
