With blank face, ghastly skin and languid eyes, Nguyen Thi Hoa, from Phu Xuyen district, Hanoi avoided the eyes of others.

According to doctors, the girl was in the acute phase, with thoughts of committing suicide. For a long time she was under pressure, suffering from obsession and auditory hallucinations.

The patient's mother said her daughter was hospitalized as her mental illness became worse as she always heard someone cursing her. The first symptoms broke out 5 months ago, when the girl did not eat or drink, stayed up late and preferred to be alone.

The mother said she sent her daughter to the mental hospital because the family wished that she could finish her high-school graduation and university entrance exams, which she failed.

Previously, the patient was very sociable and had many friends. She had a very close girl friend and they even shared a Facebook account. Once conflict occurred between them, the girl insulted the patient on Facebook. The patient began thinking a lot, lost trust and kept away from all of her friends.

"She always thought that someone was cursing her in her head, so she often mumbled alone," the mother said.

Dr. To Thanh Phuong, Deputy Director of the Central Mental Hospital No. I, said the girl suffered from serious depression and she would have been in danger if she had not been admitted to hospital in a timely fashion.
