Summer is the time for the young to party it up with their best outfits, attending concerts or raving all day and night camping out in forests or beaches under the summer sun and breezes. With Gen Z, who have a strong passion for fashion, clothing is not the only thing that matters. Their bodies need to be detoxed and purified to remain healthy and fresh.
“Besides shopping in sale seasons, to prepare for summer days with cute outfits in the hottest Facebook and TikTok posts, I am detoxing and purifying my body with greens, fruits, and playing sports more. I also choose beverages like herbal tea to drink daily,” said Ngoc Quynh, a Gen Z in the coastal city of Vung Tau.
Purifying the body to stay fresh every day is becoming a trend among young people. However, detoxifying has transitioned from bothersome preparation efforts like eating clean with complicated and expensive dishes to eliminating inner heat with drinks extracted from natural herbs like Dr Thanh Herbal Tea.
“I no longer maintain a lot of my ‘eat clean’ regime because BBQ parties with hot, spicy dishes are my ‘happiness’. I choose to detox and purify my body every day by drinking good-for-healthy beverages like herbal tea, which can help me stay fresh and avoid consequences from inner heat every day even if I go on an eating binge,” said Thu Ha, a freelance MC in Ho Chi Minh City.
Known as a generation that cares for health as a lifestyle and not just as a passing trend, GenZ drink beverages not just for quenching thirst but also a way to demonstrate their health and trendiness.
“If we cannot resist delicious hot, spicy food, then we will always choose to detox and purify our bodies to stay healthy and balanced every day with herbal tea,” said Lai Sang, a Nha Trang-based Gen Z.
Young people like herbal tea because it is convenient, and good for purifying the body. They drink to enjoy BBQ parties with friends and families without worries about inner heat. Images of youth roaming around parties or raves while holding bottles of herbal tea have become common.
Every weekend, Tuan Kiet and his friends frequent HCM City’s hotspots like Bui Vien, Vinh Khanh and Pham Van Dong, where pubs and bars line the streets, to film a few Tiktok videos.
“Roaming the streets with friends is a hobby; feasting on hot spicy food is a passion; living life to the fullest; playing hard and then purifying our bodies the right way with herbal tea,” said Tuan Kiet, a HCM City-based Gen Z.
As the “digital native” generation, born in the age of technology, Gen Z has interacted with news and knowledge all over the world much earlier than other generations. This has created a generation of sophisticated “digital natives”, self-aware, self-loving and knowledgeable about effective and convenient ways to stay healthy.
This is the starkest difference between young people and previous generations. This is demonstrated by the ways young people are detoxifying their bodies to usher in a refreshing summer.
