1. Guinness World Records on January 18 announced the recognition of Flappy Bird as the “first app to be withdrawn after topping Apple App Store's chart”. 


The great achievements made by Vietnamese young people have been recognized by the world.
Nguyen Ha Dong, the author of Flappy Bird, received the news in a calm manner. Flappy Bird is still a life achievement for him. It helped make the name Nguyen Ha Dong become famous all over the world.

In late December 2015, Dong’s name once again appeared in local newspapers as he had a meeting with Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai in Hanoi during the CEO’s working visit. 

Dong is one of the 30 names found in ’30 under-30’ list released by Forbes Vietnam.

2.  “Start-up Queen" was the name given by BBC to a Vietnamese girl –Truong Thanh Thuy, the first Vietnamese person whose app was bought by a company in the US Silicon Valley for a ‘seven-figure sum’.


Thuy has set up three businesses so far, though she is only 29.

A graduate of South Carolina University, Thuy decided to return to Vietnam to develop her business. In 2008 she set up a frozen yogurt business in Bien Hoa City, near HCM City, with some friends. 

At the same time, Thuy thought of building her first technology business GreenGar, which specializes in developing apps for smartphones, headquartered in HCM City. 

Whiteboard, the app GreenGar developed, got over nine million downloads in the first four years, and was used by students in schools in more than 100 countries.

For the third start-up, Thuy launched Tappy, a social messaging app, which is considered the biggest success of the young businesswoman. 

The app has been sold to Weebly for ‘an undisclosed seven-figure sum’.

3. Tran Thi Khanh Trang, director of Fargreen has been recognized by a US journal as one of the ‘Top 100 Leading Global Thinkers 2015’.

After finishing studies in the US, Trang decided to come back to Vietnam to start her business. She decided that it was necessary to find solutions to improve the straw burning that was rampant in many rural areas in Vietnam.


The initial capital for the business came from the scholarship Trang got when she was a student at Colorado State and some other organizations fostering entrepreneurs. 

Fargreen has also succeeded in calling for investments at the startup competitions in the US and Europe with the second prize from Green Challenge in 2014 in the Netherlands and the first prize at the Global Social Entrepreneurship Competition in 2014.

In 2015, Trang was chosen by TED as an official member and listed by Foreign Policy journal among the world’s top 100 thinkers.
