Human resources, equipment as well as chemicals have been already prepared when the first two cases of Zika virus were confirmed in Vietnam.

"We are building a disease prevention plan following directives set out by the Ministry of Health. The Central Airport Authority has also established a disease prevention committee. Co-operation plans between agencies are being completed to deal with suspected cases as quickly as possible," said Pham Truc Lam, director of the city's International Health Quarantine Centre.

He went on to say that chemicals would be sprayed to kill mosquitoes at the airport.

"The pesticides will be sprayed at both international and domestic terminals," he said.

Two cases of the Zika Virus have been confirmed in Vietnam. The first patient was a 64 year-old woman in Nha Trang City and the second a 33 year-old woman in HCM City. An Australian man was also tested positive after a visit to Vietnam.
