VietNamNet Bridge - Have you ever thought of holding a brush pen and writing calligraphy on “Dó” paper just like the emperors wrote down their commands in ancient times? On July 12 you will have the opportunity to be a part of one of these historical moments hosted by Zó-Project.

Cool fact: your writings are likely to last up to 500 years thanks to the traditional way of making our paper, which we are preserving with this project. The paper is completely handmade and it takes around 100 steps to have a finished piece.

At Zó Calligraphy Workshop, you will get your own time to get used to the brush pens, ink stones, “Dó” paper and to create your own words in calligraphy font, all under the care and support of our calligraphy master Ngau Thu – Nguyen Thanh Tung.

Even after practicing calligraphy for the last 17 years, Ngau Thu does not want to be recognized as a calligraphy master. Ngau Thu graduated from literature fromthe Pedagogy University of Ho Chi Minh City.

His studies in literature helped him gain a more subtle feeling and gave him great inspiration for his calligraphy art work. Choosing calligraphy for his career, his main goal is to keep our Vietnamese tradition and preventing it from vanishing in modern life.

The event will take place at Zo-Studio, 32 Hang Bot Street, Hanoi
