A Vietnamese fishing vessel operating in the Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago was suspected of being attacked by foreign forces on September 30, with three people suffering from broken arms and legs, whilst seven crew members were injured, according to Binh Hai Border Guard Station of Quang Ngai province.
All 10 local fishermen were on boat QNg-95739-TS, owned by Nguyen Thi Dung and captained by Nguyen Thanh Bien, with the pair residing in Chau Thuan Bien village of Binh Chau commune.
At present, the boat has contacted the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre (Vietnam MRCC) and relevant forces to receive rescue support.
The fishing vessel is currently moving towards the shore in the west - southwest direction and is expected to arrive in the locality on October 1.
Binh Hai Border Guard Station has promptly reported the issue to the Quang Ngai Border Guard Command and will continue to co-ordinate efforts with the Vietnam MRCC for timely support.
An investigation into the case will therefore be conducted after the fishing boat QNg-95739-TS returns to the locality.
