Although the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are expected to launch in September, numerous leaks about their new features have already surfaced.
One of the most noticeable upgrades is the new rectangular camera module with rounded corners. Although the three-lens arrangement remains in a triangular pattern, the flash has been moved to the far edge of the module instead of being centered, as in previous models. It remains unclear whether this design change serves aesthetic or functional purposes.
Aluminum frame
The iPhone 17 Pro will feature an aluminum frame, moving away from the titanium frame on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro, as well as the stainless steel frames used on models from the iPhone X to iPhone 14 Pro.
The back panel will combine aluminum and glass, with a glass portion around the logo integrated into the overall metallic frame, according to insider Majin Bu.
Scratch-resistant display
The iPhone 17 Pro will come equipped with a new anti-reflective coating, enhancing scratch resistance compared to previous generations. While it is not yet confirmed whether Apple will use Gorilla Glass Armor like the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, the descriptions align with Corning’s latest technology.
Larger battery
The iPhone 17 Pro Max will have a slightly thicker design to accommodate a larger battery, improving battery life. The device’s thickness is rumored to increase to 8.725 mm from 8.25 mm on the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
Additionally, Apple has reportedly tested reverse wireless charging with a power capacity of 7.5W, allowing the iPhone 17 Pro to wirelessly charge other Apple products such as AirPods and Apple Watch.

A19 Pro chip
The iPhone 17 Pro will feature the next-generation A19 Pro chip, produced using TSMC’s third-generation 3nm process, offering better performance and energy efficiency than its predecessor.
Apple-designed Wi-Fi 7 chip
All four iPhone 17 models will be equipped with an Apple-designed Wi-Fi 7 chip, moving away from the previous Broadcom chips. According to analyst Ming Chi Kuo, this change will not only reduce costs but also enhance connectivity across Apple devices. Wi-Fi 7 offers speeds exceeding 40 Gbps, four times faster than Wi-Fi 6E.
24MP selfie camera
The iPhone 17 will introduce a 24MP front camera, a significant upgrade from the 12MP camera on the iPhone 16. The higher resolution will allow for greater detail and flexibility in post-editing, even when cropping images.
48MP telephoto camera
The iPhone 17 Pro will feature a 48MP telephoto camera, an upgrade from the 12MP camera on the iPhone 16 Pro. The telephoto sensor on the iPhone 17 Pro Max will measure 1/2.6 inches, compared to 1/3.1 inches on its predecessor, further enhancing image quality.
12GB RAM
Initially rumored to be exclusive to the iPhone 17 Pro Max, the 12GB RAM upgrade is now expected to be available on the iPhone 17 Pro as well. This increase in RAM will improve multitasking and the performance of Apple Intelligence features. Currently, all iPhone 16 models have 8GB of RAM.
Enhanced cooling system
Leaks suggest that the iPhone 17 series will feature an improved internal design for better heat dissipation. According to Instant Digital from China, the upcoming Pro models will use vapor chamber cooling technology, a feature commonly found in high-end Android smartphones.
This system helps distribute heat across a wider surface area, maintaining stable performance and preventing overheating.
The new iPhone lineup, including the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air, is expected to be unveiled in September 2025.
