Leaked images on X (formerly Twitter) show third-party cases for the iPhone 17 Air and 3D models of the entire iPhone 17 lineup, confirming a completely new camera design for Apple’s 2025 models.

iPhone 17 Air: A bold new design

Tech insider Sonny Dickson shared images of an iPhone 17 Air case, sparking online discussions about its Pixel-like design. According to Dickson, "If you didn’t know it was for the iPhone 17 Air, you might mistake it for a Google Pixel case."

The iPhone 17 Air is expected to feature a unique horizontal camera bar across the top rear, marking a significant shift from previous iPhone models. The bar reportedly houses:

A single camera lens on the left.
An LED flash on the right.
A super-slim body, just 5.5 mm thick.

Despite its minimalist aesthetic, the iPhone 17 Air will still support MagSafe, a new Action button, and a Camera Control button, as revealed by a cutout on the lower left of the case.

3D models confirm camera bar across the lineup

On March 18, Majin Bu shared more leaked images on X, citing sources from Mac Otakara (Japan). The images showcase 3D-printed models of the iPhone 17, 17 Air, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max, highlighting the new horizontal camera bar design for the entire series.

The iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max are shown with a rectangular camera bump containing:

In contrast, the iPhone 17 Air has a single-lens setup, while the standard iPhone 17 retains the same design as the iPhone 16.

New materials and specifications

Leaked reports suggest that iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max will shift to a new material combination:

Aluminum frame instead of titanium.
Half aluminum, half glass back instead of full glass.
Rectangular camera cluster for a modern aesthetic.
