This morning, the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam convened its preparatory session at the National Convention Center in Hanoi.

Prior to the session, delegates paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum and offered incense at the Monument to Heroes and Martyrs.
The entire Congress then observed one minute of silence in memory of former General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and members of the 13th Central Committee who passed away during the last term.
Chairing the preparatory session was Tran Thanh Man, Politburo member and Chairman of the National Assembly.
The Congress voted overwhelmingly in favor of the session’s agenda, the Congress's working regulations, and its electoral procedures.

One of the key outcomes of the session was the election of the Presidium, which includes all 16 members of the Politburo.
In addition, the Congress elected a five-member Secretariat and a 13-member Delegate Qualification Committee.

The Delegate Qualification Committee presented its report, which was unanimously approved. Accordingly, all 1,586 delegates summoned to attend the Congress were confirmed to be fully eligible.
In the afternoon, delegates returned to their accommodations to study official documents and materials in preparation for the Congress's working sessions.
