A total of 1,586 delegates representing more than 5.6 million Party members nationwide are attending the Congress. The official opening ceremony is scheduled for tomorrow morning.

The session was chaired by Tran Thanh Man, Politburo member and Chairman of the National Assembly.

Politburo member and Standing Secretary of the Secretariat, Tran Cam Tu, delivered the opening remarks, officially launching the preparatory meeting of the 14th Congress.

During the session, Pham Gia Tuc, Central Committee member and Chief of the Party Central Office, proposed that the Congress observe one minute of silence in memory of the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and other members of the 13th Party Central Committee who passed away during the previous term.

Earlier in the morning, before the preparatory session, all 1,586 delegates visited the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum to pay tribute to the late President and offered incense at the Monument to Heroes and Martyrs.
