Under the decision, Nguyen Tien Hai, a member of the Party Central Committee, has been transferred from his post as Party Secretary of An Giang Province to the Ministry of Home Affairs, where he has been entrusted with the duties of acting minister.

Born on August 31, 1965, Hai is from Tan Thanh Ward, Ca Mau Province. He holds a bachelor's degree in law and a master's degree in public administration.

He is a member of the 13th and 14th Party Central Committees and a deputy to the 16th National Assembly.

Hai has spent decades working in Ca Mau Province, where he held a number of leadership positions, including deputy secretary of the provincial Youth Union, president of the provincial Vietnam Youth Federation, chief of the provincial Party Committee Office, Party secretary of Cai Nuoc District, director of the provincial Department of Justice, vice chairman and later chairman of the provincial People's Committee, and Party secretary and chairman of the provincial People's Council.

In January 2025, he was appointed Party Secretary of Kien Giang Province. In July 2025, following the merger of Kien Giang and An Giang provinces, he became Party Secretary of the newly established An Giang Province, a position he held until his transfer.
