Multiple sources have indicated that Vietnam may be included in the list of countries where the iPhone 17 series will be sold in the first wave, instead of trailing behind other markets as in previous years.

Last year, Apple launched the iPhone 16 series with a significant shift, as Vietnam made it into the early-release group for the first time, with devices becoming available just two weeks after the initial global launch.

However, this year could be even more exceptional, as sources say Vietnam might join the very first wave of countries where the iPhone 17 series is sold worldwide.

Specifically, Apple has reportedly asked domestic distributors to prepare two launch scenarios for the iPhone 17 series. One mirrors last year’s timeline, with a release about two weeks after the global launch (around September 27). The other involves Vietnam being part of the initial launch group, expected around September 19, alongside select other global markets.

Some analysts believe that if Vietnam is included in the first wave, it could technically become the first country where customers receive the iPhone 17. This is due to the fact that local retail systems typically deliver devices at midnight, whereas other markets often start deliveries in the morning.

However, according to VietNamNet’s sources, this assumption is incorrect. Apple has set a universal release time of 8:00 AM for the first-wave launch, meaning that Vietnam would still lag behind countries like Australia and Japan, as has been the case previously.

Whether Vietnam will indeed be part of the first-wave launch for the iPhone 17 series will be officially confirmed during Apple’s product announcement event, set for midnight (Vietnam time) on September 10.

Leaked information suggests that the iPhone 17 lineup will include several new versions: the iPhone 17 Air, expected to be Apple’s thinnest iPhone ever, replacing the Plus line; the iPhone 17, which is anticipated to undergo a major design overhaul to align more closely with the Pro models; the iPhone 17 Pro, which may feature a frame material change from titanium to aluminum to reduce weight and manufacturing cost; and the iPhone 17 Pro Max, which could be slightly thicker to accommodate a larger battery, a feature highly requested by users.
