Apple has officially unveiled its next-generation 14-inch MacBook Pro, featuring the new M6 processor. Designed for students, business users and professional content creators, the laptop emphasizes on-device artificial intelligence (AI), enhanced graphics performance and next-generation wireless connectivity.

Preorders open on October 28 in 35 countries and territories, with availability at Apple Stores and authorized resellers beginning November 6. The laptop comes in two finishes: space black and silver.

In Vietnam, the 14-inch MacBook Pro starts at VND54.99 million (approximately $2,090), while the highest-end configuration costs more than VND111 million (approximately $4,220). The top configuration includes a nano-texture display, 32GB of unified memory and 4TB of storage.

At the time of publication, Apple's official Vietnamese website had not yet provided availability or delivery estimates.

The biggest upgrade is Apple's M6 chip, which introduces significant architectural improvements over its predecessor, the M5.

The new processor features a 12-core CPU, two more cores than the previous generation, alongside a 12-core GPU delivering a claimed 30% increase in graphics performance.

The GPU incorporates third-generation hardware-accelerated ray tracing and Dynamic Caching technology, designed to improve 3D graphics processing and rendering performance in applications such as Blender.

Each GPU core also features Neural Accelerators, working alongside a dual 16-core Neural Engine.

According to Apple's performance figures, this configuration enables on-device AI tasks, including image generation, Super Resolution upscaling and large language model (LLM) prompt processing, to run between 25% faster and 1.9 times as fast as on the M5.

Compared with the original M1 chip, AI performance can improve by as much as 13 times.

The base model comes with 16GB of unified memory, configurable up to 32GB, while memory bandwidth has increased to 170GB/s.

Beyond processing power, the 14-inch M6 MacBook Pro sets a new battery-life record for Apple's Mac lineup, offering up to 24 hours of use on a single charge.

That represents an improvement of four hours compared with the M1-powered generation.

The laptop also supports fast charging, allowing its battery to reach 50% capacity in just 30 minutes when paired with a compatible USB-C power adapter rated at 96W or higher.

Its Liquid Retina XDR display delivers peak HDR brightness of 1,600 nits and a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1.

An optional nano-texture glass finish helps reduce glare and diffuse reflections, making the display easier to use outdoors or in environments with challenging lighting conditions.

Wireless connectivity has been upgraded to Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, while the laptop supports up to two external displays.

Physical connectivity includes three Thunderbolt 4 ports, a MagSafe 3 magnetic charging connector, an HDMI port, an SDXC card slot and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

For video calls and content creation, the device features a 12MP Center Stage camera with Desk View support, allowing users to show an overhead perspective of their workspace.

The camera is complemented by a studio-quality three-microphone array and a six-speaker sound system supporting Spatial Audio.

The new MacBook Pro ships with macOS 27 Golden Gate, featuring deeper integration of Apple's next-generation AI-powered Siri assistant.

The operating system also includes intelligent automation and image-processing capabilities through the Apple Intelligence suite.

Apple has also highlighted improvements in the laptop's environmental footprint.

Recycled metals account for 45% of the materials used in the device, including 100% recycled aluminum in the enclosure and 100% recycled cobalt in the battery.

For the first time, Apple is also using 100% recycled tantalum in the laptop's capacitors.
