To develop sustainable forestry, the province continues to improve the road system and forestry roads, promoting mechanization in planting, caring for, exploiting, and transporting forest products.

Nearly 200 archaeological relics, mainly stone, bone, and pottery, allegedly dating back about 8000 - 10,000 years ago have been found at caves of Nam Lu, Tham Pan, and Tham Un 2 in the northern mountainous province of Bac Kan.

Bac Kan province has identified that livestock farming is a local strength. Along with buffalo and cow farming, the province has determined to prioritize the development of pig farming as one of its key sectors.

With many unique local agricultural products and specialties, Bac Kan province is among the provinces with a large number of OCOP products in the country.
