The couple spent many years studying and living in Vietnam.

“During our years in Vietnam, we truly felt the warmth of the people. Teachers and friends supported us wholeheartedly, and Vietnamese people were sincere and hospitable.

Those beautiful memories made our affection for Vietnam grow stronger. For us, Vietnam is not just a place we studied - it is a second home filled with cherished memories,” Nounnapha shared.

She recalled that when she first arrived in Vietnam, she was excited to learn the language. At first, Vietnamese was challenging due to its tones, accents and layered meanings.

However, after a year of persistence, she came to appreciate the richness and beauty of the language and grew to love it deeply.

That is why she decided to perform a Vietnamese song for her groom and guests at their wedding in Vientiane on February 20.

The bride performs “Hon ca yeu” (More than love) at her wedding.

“Our wedding was a very special occasion. I wanted to give my husband a meaningful gift by singing a Vietnamese song, even though I wasn’t sure if everyone would understand it.

To my surprise, many guests noticed and congratulated us warmly,” she said with a smile.

Nounnapha chose “Hon ca yeu” for its gentle melody and meaningful lyrics, expressing her deep love for the man she chose to marry.

As she is not a professional singer, she decided to pre-record the song to feel more confident. During the ceremony, she held the microphone and sang along, while her groom held her hand and gently danced with her.

“My husband was very happy and surprised. The guests were also amazed by this special performance. Many complimented my singing, and those who understood Vietnamese said the song was very meaningful.

At that moment, I felt overwhelmed with happiness,” she shared.

The video of her performance quickly went viral, gaining 3.7 million views and nearly 200,000 likes on TikTok, with many users leaving comments praising the touching moment.

Nounnapha and Vilasuk met in 2021 after both had returned to Laos. She described their love as “extremely stable”. Being with Vilasuk, she feels comfortable and happy even in silence.

She said she sensed his sincerity through the way he cares for her when she is ill and how he values family life. She realised that “it’s not about finding the best person, but the most suitable one to stay together for the long term”.

Once she found that person, she chose to get married and build a happy home together.
