The public’s anger reached a climax after the latest child abuse case at Ngoi Sao Xanh, a privately run nursery school in Nha Be district, HCM City.

The case was discovered after a clip was posted on the internet showing a teacher of the school hurling a child and throwing things at other children when they were in bed.

A pregnant teacher in pink shirt was seen entering a classroom where about 10 children were sleeping and then picked up a child on the ground, turned him upside down and threw him on the bed.

The teacher repeated the same action with another child who lifted his head. Then she threw one pillow and one schoolbag into the faces of other children nearest to her.

Nguyen Thi An, headmaster of Ngoi Sao Xanh, also said she was shocked when seeing the clip, with scenes cut from the school’s cameras.

According to An, the teacher in the clip graduated from a junior college and has many years’ experience. An could not imagine that the teacher would have the behaviors like these.

Teachers seem to have many reasons to abuse children. In the case, the teacher hurled a child because he lied.

Meanwhile, in Kon Tum province, a teacher bit a 4-year old child and left bruises on his buttocks because the child…was too nice.vThe case took place on March 6 at Thien Than Nho School in Kon Tum City of the province.

On March 16, Nguoi Lao Dong reported that two teachers, Quan and Chi, pinched a 4-year-old child’s ears and forced him to bear a bowl of rice for one hour as a punishment for his mistake. After that, they hit the child on his legs and threw him on the ground.

The owner of the school said the two teachers had been suspended.

Dang Duc Hoang, head of the district 11 education and training sub-department, said that the agency sent staff to the school after reports about the case. However, the child did not go to school.

“Striking children must not be explained as a spontaneous act. If someone does not love children, he must not be allowed to work as teachers,” Hoang said, threatening to revoke the operation license if similar cases happen in the future at the nursery school.

Prior to that, in February, TV showed a report where teachers of 1/6 Nursery School in Phan Thiet City of Binh Thuan province hit children with their hands and spoons during lunch.
