Realme is currently seen as leading the trend, while OPPO, Vivo, Redmi and POCO are also reportedly preparing smartphones with similarly large batteries.

Realme kicks off the 10,000mAh battery race

According to 91mobiles’ August 2026 product listings, as many as five versions of Realme’s mid-range smartphones now feature batteries with capacities of around 10,000mAh, suggesting that ultra-large batteries are no longer confined to premium devices.

The listed models include the Realme P4 Power, Realme Narzo Power, Realme P4 Power 256GB and upgraded storage variants of the two product lines.

The most striking feature of the Realme P4 Power and Narzo Power is their 10,001mAh battery. That is significantly larger than the batteries found in most smartphones today, many of which still offer capacities of around 5,000-6,000mAh.

Beyond their massive batteries, the devices support 80W fast charging and feature 6.8-inch AMOLED displays. Depending on the version, they come with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of internal storage.

All five models on the list are powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultra chipset. Their rear camera systems combine a 50MP main camera with an 8MP ultra-wide camera, while the front-facing camera has a resolution of 16MP.

OPPO, Vivo, Redmi and POCO do not want to be left behind

The race toward ultra-large batteries is unlikely to stop with Realme. OPPO is rumored to be developing an F-series smartphone with a 10,000mAh battery. Realme itself could also expand its Number Series with another phone offering a similar battery capacity.

Vivo is reportedly preparing the Vivo V80 Lite 5G with a 10,000mAh battery. If the information proves accurate, Vivo would become another major brand bringing exceptionally large batteries to mainstream and upper-mid-range smartphones.

Redmi, meanwhile, is rumored to be equipping the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max with a battery of similar capacity. POCO could also join the race with the POCO X8 Power, potentially turning 10,000mAh batteries into a major competitive battleground among Chinese smartphone brands.

Could 10,000mAh become the new standard?

The fact that several manufacturers are moving toward 10,000mAh batteries points to a clear shift in smartphone industry strategy. Rather than focusing solely on thin designs, performance or cameras, manufacturers are increasingly prioritizing the ability to keep devices running for longer periods.

Large batteries are also being paired with fast-charging technology to address one of their traditional drawbacks: long charging times. If charging speeds continue to improve, users could get smartphones that last much longer without having to reach for a charger so frequently.

As consumers increasingly use their phones for gaming, video, social media, AI and other demanding tasks, a 10,000mAh smartphone battery could become a genuine competitive advantage. What is now an attention-grabbing feature could quickly develop into a mainstream trend.
