On the evening of December 23, Tan Dinh Church in District 1 welcomed throngs of visitors for a Christmas carol event.
From 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM, the church’s courtyard was packed with attendees, who joined together in song to celebrate the season in a lively and joyous atmosphere.
Among the visitors was Nhi and her friends from District 7, who arrived early to avoid traffic. "The Christmas spirit here is so vibrant, and the decorations are stunning," she said, taking pictures under the sparkling lights.
Children and their families posed for photos in front of the brightly lit nativity scenes, while visitors marveled at the elaborate decorations adorning churches throughout the city.
Not only Tan Dinh Church, but numerous other churches in Ho Chi Minh City have also been beautifully decorated with vibrant colors, attracting locals to visit and enjoy.
At Mac Ty Nho Church in District 1, creative decorations added to the festive charm. The courtyard featured an impressive nearly 3-meter-tall "Luce" statue at the entrance. A rotating Christmas tree, artificial snow machines, and dozens of other trees created a magical winter-like setting, captivating young visitors eager for photo opportunities.
The artificial snow, made of soap foam, cascaded down from above, blanketing the Christmas trees and decorations in white, evoking a snowy winter wonderland.
With nighttime temperatures in Ho Chi Minh City dropping to around 20°C, many young people donned sweaters to capture the cozy, festive mood. "I came out early to take photos and enjoy the holiday atmosphere. On Christmas Eve, I’ll attend church with my family," one young visitor shared.
For Han Han from Go Vap District, Christmas is a highly anticipated holiday. She visited a local church and was particularly impressed by the large "Luce" statue, which resembled a pilgrim in a yellow raincoat, boots, and carrying a wooden staff.
To avoid the crowds on Christmas Eve, families brought their children to enjoy the festivities in advance, capturing moments with nativity scenes and Santa Claus displays, especially in the vibrant Go Vap Catholic neighborhood, where residents had been preparing decorations for over a month.
