On March 3, photos of a foreigner standing on Hoang Dieu Street (Da Nang) holding the signboard went viral on social networks in Vietnam.
It is reported that in recent days, the man has often appeared on many major streets in Da Nang with the signboard.
Nguyen Dang Hoang, director of the Da Nang Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, told VietNamNet that the agency had reported this to police and relevant bodies.
Hoang said that local agencies would assess whether the man is a tourist and how he entered Vietnam. The case will be reported to the Da Nang People’s Committee.
Another official from the Da Nang Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs said that local officials met the man a few days ago, but he did not provide any information. The Da Nang Center for Supporting Tourists also asked him if he needed any assistance, but he said he didn't need it and went away.
"Today, we were at the locations where people had reported seeing him but he had left. We are coordinating with the police and relevant bodies to deal with this case," the official said.
