On September 13, Da Nang City Police confirmed that the Criminal Police Department had detained Vernazz Joseph Alexander (born 1988, British nationality) for investigation on charges of "illegal possession of military weapons."

In the early hours of September 5, at the S.R bar located on An Thuong 32 Street (Ngu Hanh Son Ward), Alexander got into a dispute with another foreign patron. During the confrontation, he pulled what appeared to be a gun from his pocket to intimidate the other man before quickly leaving the scene.

Upon receiving reports from the public, the Criminal Police launched an investigation. Detectives later located Alexander residing in an apartment on Le Cao Lang Street (Cam Le Ward).

At 12:30 a.m. on September 12, in coordination with other units, police conducted an administrative search of the apartment. Inside a wardrobe on the second floor, they found a metal handgun and a magazine loaded with 12 bullets.

During questioning, Alexander admitted to purchasing the firearm in Cambodia at the end of 2024 for self-defense purposes.

He stated that on the night of the incident, after the argument at the bar, he returned to his apartment to retrieve the weapon and then returned to confront his opponent.

According to investigators, Alexander has been in Vietnam since 2019 and has lived in various provinces and cities. In April 2025, he moved to Da Nang and rented the apartment on Le Cao Lang Street where he was later apprehended.
